Core PE

Curriculum Overview – Year 7

In Year 7, the pupils undertake 12 sports covering all areas of Physical Education. This is assessed over 5 strands (Practical Performance; Leadership; Health and Fitness; Mental Resilience; Subject knowledge). In Year 7 Students are generally working at the Acquired Stage of Learning.

Curriculum Overview – Year 8

In Year 8, the pupils undertake 12 sports covering all areas of Physical Education. This is assessed over 5 strands (Practical Performance; Leadership; Health and Fitness; Mental Resilience; Subject knowledge). In year 8 Students are generally working at the Developing Stage of Learning.

Curriculum Overview – Year 9

In Year 9, the pupils undertake 12 sports covering all areas of Physical Education. This is assessed over 5 strands (Practical Performance; Leadership; Health and Fitness; Mental Resilience; Subject knowledge). In Year 9 Students are generally working at the Practising and Applying Stage of Learning.

Curriculum Overview – Year 10

In Year 10 the pupils undertake 10 sports covering all areas of Physical Education (some sports are now less traditional.) They are assessed over 5 strands (Practical Performance; Leadership; Health and Fitness; Mental Resilience; Subject knowledge).GCSE and BTEC students will be assessed practically in CORE PE. In Year 10, students are generally working at the Performance Stage of Learning.

Curriculum Overview – Year 11

In Year 11 the pupils undertake 10 sports covering all areas of Physical Education (some sports are now less traditional. They are assessed over 5 strands (Practical Performance; Leadership; Health and Fitness; Mental Resilience; Subject knowledge). GCSE and BTEC Students will be assessed practically in CORE PE. In Year 11, students are generally working at the Evaluating and Improving Stage of Learning.
