Headteacher Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am so delighted to be writing to you as the new Headteacher of St Bernard’s Catholic High School. I feel wonderfully proud to be taking up this privileged position and very excited at the prospect of working with our brilliant students.

As you may be aware, I have grown up in Rotherham, live here now with my family and am proud to be an ex St Bernard’s student! I have an absolute commitment to the success of the school not only as a Headteacher, but also as a parent and a member of our Catholic community. I have such happy memories of my life in the school and taking up the headship position feels a little like ‘coming home’.

My passion is to provide our students with the most outstanding education so that they have every opportunity possible for the future. This also needs to be balanced with outstanding pastoral care so that our students learn, grow and develop into the best version of themselves in a community wrapped in Catholic values.

My commitment to you as parents is to provide a school which celebrates students at every possible opportunity both in terms of academia and personal achievement. We will challenge students through high quality teaching and learning whilst supporting them with unwavering pastoral care. We will treat students as individuals with the potential to be great as well as nurturing their dreams and aspirations.

For me, parental relationships with school are paramount to our students’ success. St Bernard’s has a wonderful legacy of family relationships, with generations spanning the schools’ history. I will work hard to rekindle those relationships and ensure that the commitment that our community has to the success of the school is continued for many years to come. I know that we can count on your support in maintaining our high standards through excellent uniform, attendance and behaviour standards so that we can create the best learning environment for our students.

Our mission statement is centred on the belief that our students are unique and will be cared for through positive, nurturing relationships led by our faith, which celebrate their achievements and individuality. I am committed to ensuring that we carry out this mission every single day to support happy, high achieving students to make their way in the world.
I look forward to meeting you all and beginning our journey together.
